For some of us, the behind-the-scenes extras are just as interesting as the movies themselves. Peter Jackson is capitalizing on that interest to build anticipation for the upcoming movie, The Hobbit, by releasing a video diary of the start of production. It doesn’t give away any secrets, but it does take us back into the world of Middle Earth, as well as give a glimpse into the massive work that takes place before the first scenes can be filmed.
If you’re like me, this will only whet your appetite, and heighten your anticipation of the movie many feel Jackson should have begun immediately following completion of The Lord of the Rings.
Like The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit is being filmed on location in New Zealand. The story is being told in two movies to include as much detail from the book as possible. Part 1 is expected to be released in the US in December 2012.
