Just as I was finally getting used to Windows 7, Microsoft throws me for a loop. I’m one of those die-hard “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” kind of people.

While I have several computers, My main business computer is 6 years old and running Windows XP Pro (SP3). I only bought my Win7 machine when I needed something more powerful to create Powerpoint slideshows and edit videos on.

I have a cell phone, but it’s not one of those fancy smart phones. It will connect to the internet, and send and receive text messages. But I don’t use them, and I don’t pay the monthly “unlimited” fee. Until very recently, I didn’t know how to send a text message, and I didn’t want to know how.

But I obviously watch a lot of videos, many of which are technology oriented. I’ve seen how smart phones work, with their fancy apps.

And I’ve seen how the tablets work in much the same way. It doesn’t matter whether it’s an Apple iPad or one of the many up and coming contenders, they all work pretty close to the same way, and they all have touch screens.

Now it looks like the next generation of Windows is trying to emulate the mobile device interface. And I’m just not ready for that. It may be perfect for laptops, and notebooks. But for a workhorse desktop? I guess time will only tell.

Hey Microsoft! Want to give me a loaner to play with? I’ll be happy to give you an old lady, business perspective on that interface!
