Zoo’s Views Is Going A Different Direction

A Sample Of What The Future Brings To Zoo’s Views

Zoo’s Views has been first and foremost a place where I could put my mind to things not work related. Sadly, I have had very little time to devote to Zoo’s Views over the past year and a half. That’s about to change, but so is the focus of this site.

Previously, I used Zoo’s Views for strictly featuring videos I found and liked, for whatever reason I liked them. Going forward, I will be doing much more than just videos. The existing posts won’t be going anywhere. If you have a favorite bookmarked, you’ll still be able to come in and read that post and watch the videos, (assuming YouTube hasn’t taken them down.)

The past several months, I’ve been writing pages for Squidoo. Unfortunately, a significant number of people writing for Squidoo failed to follow the rules and the site has taken a big hit from the search engines.

This has resulted in some heavy handed changes, and too many changes at once for Squidoo to know what is working and what is not. It’s a “shotgun” approach, rather than changing one thing at a time and running tests to see if the change is effective, brought on themselves by ignoring the sudden influx of low-quality affiliate pages.

My New Wok!

While my pages, and my account, have not been penalized in any way, my traffic is suffering from the fallout and I am also concerned that my content is not under my control. For that reason, I’ll be removing content from Squidoo, and republishing it here on my own blog.

Some of that content is commercial in nature, with products from Amazon highlighted. Even more of the content is not commercial, including several galleries of my own photography.

If you are a regular visitor to Zoo’s Views, you will see changes in how the site looks. I need to switch over to a new theme, something “responsive”, and I expect I’ll be modifying it until I’m happy with how it looks.

This is a big step for me, as I really like the way the site looks now. But the current theme is very out-of-date, and doesn’t take advantage of many of the newer features of WordPress.

I hope my regular visitors will not be disappointed and will agree with me, as time goes by, that this site is better for the changes.
